Blogging is not for the faint of heart. I started my blog back in 2014. (Yes, we’re six years in this thang!) There are some things to ask yourself before starting a blog.
Why do you want to start a blog? Blogging isn’t easy. So if you’re in it for a couple of bucks, this is not for you. It will take a while before you start to see any dollars. You’ll have to invest in yourself and lean into what your audience is asking to grow your community.
Who do I intend to reach?
Who are you writing for? I want to reach Black Women, trying to navigate the world while embracing their beauty. I want to create an educational and free space for Black Women to talk about life.
What do I hope to get out of it?
Is it a creative outlet for you? Do you want to become an authority in your niche? Blogging is a creative way to talk about topics I get asked frequently. I know if its a question one person has, then more than likely someone else has the same problem. I want to create a community here. Think about what your contribution would be to the blogging community.
Bonus: Can I commit?
Now you’ll have to take the time to research, edit, and write. Not to mention you’ll probably spend more money than you make at first. Can you commit?
Get out your pen and paper and brainstorm! I hope you join me in the blogging community!
